MEA Warns Army Corps Against Fast-Tracking Federal Review of Line 5

MEA is calling on the Army Corps of Engineers to postpone a public hearing on Enbridge Energy’s controversial proposal to construct a new segment of its Line 5 oil pipeline in northern Wisconsin. We're asking the agency to wait until the State of Wisconsin and the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa have a chance to provide input on potential threats to local wetlands and waterways.

MEA Files Lawsuit on Behalf of Portage County Residents After State Regulators Strike Deal with Large Livestock Facility Weakening Environmental Oversight

Yesterday, a group of Portage County residents represented by MEA filed a lawsuit challenging an illegal settlement agreement between the Wisconsin DNR and Gordondale Farms. The September 2023 settlement agreement was negotiated behind closed doors after Gordondale objected to the terms of a wastewater permit issued by the DNR.

Environmental and Public Health Groups Call on Governor to Veto Pro-Polluter PFAS Bill

Today, more than a dozen Wisconsin environmental and public health groups joined MEA in sending a joint letter urging Governor Evers to veto Senate Bill 312, a PFAS bill that fails to deliver much-needed aid to communities impacted by PFAS contamination and ultimately leaves those communities worse off by letting polluters off the hook for their fair share of cleanup costs.
